You may get around Miami on public transportation run by Metro-Dade Transit Tel 305-770-3131. Metrorail trains - 5 am -midnight - run between the northern suburbs and South Miami; stops are Government Center - for downtown. Coconut Grove and Douglas Road or University - for Coral Gables. Fares are $1.25. Downtown Miami has the Metromover 5.30 am -midnight; flat fare 25¢, a monorail with a great view. Metrobuses cover the whole city, the flat-rate fare is $1.25, with a 25¢ surcharge for a transfer. Route maps and timetables for Metro-Dade Transit services are available at Government Center Station, and the Metrorail station at NW First Avenue and First Street.
